Following the club- and charts-stormer “Hello”, Martin Solveig’s complete assortment on his new album “Smash”.
Martin Solveig isn’t only known in Germany for infectious tracks. His first commercial hit “Hello” together with Dragonette entered the charts like a wildfire, and his new album “Smash” shows chart potential not to be underestimated.
Martin Picandet (alias Martin Solveig) brought back the original 80s tennis headband from the
courts with his popular video to “Hello”, and it’s there again on the cover of this delectable 40-minute, 10-track album. The new single “Ready 2 Go” with Bloc-Party-Man Kele is of course included – the DELUXE editors have it pegged as the next album single to hit the charts after the “Hello” anthem.
The visualization of his music is important to him; before his fifth album was released he produced eye-catching witty and behind-the-scenes Teaser-Clips for it. Indie sounding “The Night Out”, for which Solveig himself provides the vocals, is a side trip from the usual Solveig style. “Get Away From You” on the other hand proves that Martin Solvieg’s voice carries much better on uptempo tracks. “Big In Japan”, “Can’t Stop” and “Boys & Girls” are all tunes that instantly drive one to dance. “Smash” is one-of-a-kind and the range of elements and sounds in his tracks are not mainstream.
Martin Solveig released his first album “Sur La Terre” 2002 on his own label “Mixture”. Two years later he turned to Funk and Rock, resulting in the hit “Rocking Music”. The song made it very clear: the Parisian can join the world’s top DJs.
