GOOSE - SYNRISE

Goose took 4 whole years to produce a follow-up to their 2006 debut album.

“Synrise”, Goose’s second album, was finally released last Fall and is still attractive enough to be worthy of a review.

goose - synriseTheir firstling “Bring It On” delivered at album length one rave banger after the other and is still the perfect soundtrack for a sweaty dance-crazy club night. Goose shifted down a gear on the new album and is more oriented to 80s synth pop – contrary to all expectations that they would continue exactly where they left off.

The atmospheric title song sets the pace and the album carries on in the same manner. “As Good As It Gets” or the second single release “Can’t Stop Me Now” are the two tracks most similar to the last album. On the seventh track “Words” they throw in lyrics like “Words are violently erupting / Signs are flashing / Bodys talk” over a beeping melody.

In the meantime several Remix EPs from the longplayer were released. Acts like The Bloody Beetroots, Paul Chambers and Feadz all laid their hands on the original pieces. Those with an electronic heart + soul will be grateful for these, as “Synrise” pays less homage to General Midi than the debut album. Three aesthetically pleasing video clips for the lead tracks were also produced.

Even when the best french fries are perhaps to be had in Belgium, the band could easily increase their live playing time of one hour with the new album.
