There's life in the old dog yet: Their debut album was one of the first blog wonders and made Clap Your Hands Say Yeah overnight indie stars.
But with the release of their follow-up “Some Loud Thunder” the New Yorkers had to accept the blog lash – and deservedly so: almost no one was interested in the very similar to the debut album yet far worse songs.
And when all members started to engage in other band projects and singer Alec Ounsworth released a solo album, rumors of an impending breakup were increasing. Now, after five years of band hiatus CYHSY suddenly release their new album.
On “Hysterical” they rock like never before and occasionally bring to mind Muse before the prog hype. If you can disregard Ounsworths nasal moaning, you get twelve songs that will get you hooked despite of the dodgy arrangements and surprising detours.
