Split up number two! His “Ego” got the best of him - after the current “Progress” tour, Robbie Williams will go solo again.
BBC’s Newsbeat reported it recently and quoted Robbie’s answer to a fan’s question posted on his official Blog. He wrote: “There will be a solo tour and I’m not sure where I’ll be going yet.”
The future of the (still) five-piece boy band was already in question before its sold-out “Progress UK” tour ending in Wembley Stadium. Despite the news about its future Take That’s tour in Germany wasn’t affected and they were ecstatically received in the stadiums. Memories of the “good old days” are in the forefront now - not worrying about the members’ goals after 2012. Robbie Williams’ goal however can already clearly be seen in parts of the show with his band colleagues - cause of displeasure for some Take That fans. The complained that Robbie is stealing the show from the band with this eccentric solo numbers.
Mister “Rock DJ” himself fuelled the discussion on his blog by commenting: “I am aware that there is a perception in certain quarters and I'm enjoying throwing that perception down people's throats when I jump through the wall on L.M.E.Y (Let Me Entertain You).” He added “I’ve never felt more on my game and it’s thanks, in part, to the naysayers. They put fire in my belly and, in turn, a smile on my face. When the tickets go on sale for my next tour I think we’ll see what ‘dwindling’ looks like.”
Williams was criticized for his constant cursing on stage. Out of protest, fans stormed one of his solo numbers during a gig. The singer countered to his fans in a ‘friendly’ manner: “Can’t believe you’re fuc**** here. Let me introduce myself, my name is Robbie fuc**** Williams.”
