Paul McCartney hinted about a reunion of the Beatles for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Ringo Starr performed live on July 13th at the Circus Krone venue in Munich – together with Rick Derringer (63), ex-member of the band „McCoys“ („Hang on Sloopy”) and Richard Page (58), the “Mr. Mister” known for “Kyrie”, for one.
Ringo was naturally on the drums – his
place for eight years with the Beatles. He sat up high and hammered at the drums, grinning happily and singing. Not only the dyed hair and sunglasses concealed the fact that Ringo Starr turned 72 on the previous Thursday.
His performance in Munich won’t be the last. It’s rumored that McCartney and Ringo Starr are planning a quasi-revival as the Beatles for the occasion of the Summer Olympics 2012 in London.
Paul McCartney (68) hinted at a reunion for the Summer Olympics in London 2012. The Opening Ceremony takes place in the Olympia Stadium in London on July 27th – possibly with the Beatles as Live Act.
Sir Paul McCartney let his interest be openly known during his appearance in a US-American TV-show. And according to the British tabloid „The Sun“, Ringo Starr – one of the two remaining Beatles alive – will be a part of the live appearance.
That would be enough of a sensation, considering that the two haven’t played together for 40 whole years. But there’s more: The sons of the late members John Lennon and George Harrison might take their places to complete the formation. Both of them are also in the music business: Sean Lennon released his third solo album in 2009 and Dhani Harrison plays with the US rock band Fistful of Mercy since 2010. A combined performance would certainly be a fantastic Comeback of the legendary Beatles.
We’ll have to wait and see whether the rumors are true – and whether we’ll see the Beatles 2012 on stage again.
