… and dedicated the second track “Wet” from his new album to none other than heir apparent to the British throne, Prince William.
Occasion: Prince William’s stag night! And that although Snoop is banned for life from entering the United Kingdom due to a scuffle with authorities at London Heathrow airport. It’s rumored that Prince William’s little brother Prince Harry plays a role in having the ban reversed.
But enough of gossip and rumours!
“Doggumentary” is the 11th studio album of the exceptional rapper from Long Beach since his breakthrough 1993. Back then, he and his cousin Nate Dogg (who died recently) stood for a totally new direction in rap music – G Funk.
Snoop presents his fans 21 tracks on the new album together with a long list of all-star feature appearances –the G Funk veteran Battlecat, R. Kelly, Kanye West and many more. The result is a tracklist that won’t only please a general audience but also the real true Hip Hop fans.
Some claim that Snoop hasn’t grown artistically, but our music editors observe that Snoop is The Doggfather - he simply stayed true to his style.
Our editors are especially impressed by Track 5, “My fuckin’ house” , feat. Young Jeezy and E-40. It’s the lift-off point for “Doggumentary” and endows true Hip Hop fans with producer Rick Rock’s energetic beats. The anti-drug message at the end of the track is somewhat surprising coming from Snoop – is the Doggfather getting older and wiser?
