David Garret is making history: he recently pocketed the highest-paying artist agreement in history for a classical soloist, signing for six years with promoter/label DEAG Classics
Garrett’s commitment includes a total of 100 concerts to take place by the end of 2016 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. DEAG isn’t giving details of the new agreement, but the sales of the past three years certainly justify the new partnership. According to DEAG CEO Prof. Peter Schwenkow, over 650.000 tickets were sold since the beginning of the cooperation in 2009. He’s optimistic that the new tour will attract over 1 million concert-goers.
Garrett will parade the versatility his fans appreciate for the next few weeks and months: His tour with the Russian National Philharmonie begins May 1st. Musical Director Vladimir Spivakov offers works of Tschaikowsky, Strauss, Keisler and many more, interpreted by Garrett and the National Philharmonie. On May 18th Garrett continues his successful tour “Rock Symphonies” – switching genres within a few weeks. Instead of Classic, he’ll be playing his interpretations of tunes from Nirvana, Guns n’ Roses and well-known film music like Mission Impossible.
The DELUXE music editorial department says: „Right on, David! Whoever can influence such masses deserves to get paid well! Even more so when one man like David can parade one violin through different genres.”
