His fans had to wait a long time indeed. For the first time in four years, he’s returning to the stage in 2011.
From September through October he’ll be performing his exceptional Show “Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour” in major cities:. Absolute highlight: a full symphony orchestra will accompany him, in addition to his own band. “It’s a long-cherished ambition of mine to bridge the gap between Pop and Classic”, said George Michael in an interview with the British music magazine NME.
In addition to Germany he’ll also be hitting Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Ireland, Great Britain and Switzerland.
The 47 year-old artist will present original compositions and covers of artists who influenced him. All titles were rearranged and reorchestrated to
accommodate the full-size classical orchestra. The perfect symbiosis of classic and pop music offers a completely different listening experience – not only because during the tour his show will be played in some of the most reputable concert halls in which no pop artist has ever appeared. Concert halls such as Prague’s State Opera House, the Royal Opera House in London and the Palais Garnier in Paris. Pop music, backing symphony orchestra, first-class venues: the combination can only lead to a unique concert experience with outstanding acoustics.
George Michael is certainly part of pop music history. The group Wham! kicked off an influential pop music era. George Michael became a revered solo artist who can give goose bumps with his moving, poetic lyrics, touching melodies and superior voice.
